Ok. Tried with latest kernel.
Nope.
The whole system boots fine, but X is still failing to detect properly the
graphic card.

Title:
Hi, Christopher.
What do you really mean by "testing with the latest kernel"? I try to guess, so
please correct me if I'm wrong.
When the 3.19.0-16 kernel was installed, the process ended up with two vmlinuz
files: vmlinuz-3-19.0-16-generic and vmlinuz-3-19.0-16-generic.efi.signed.
Now, after th
By the way, another (I hope) useful hint could be the fact that KMS is
initializing the graphic card correctly: during the boot process I can see the
magenta (or whatever color it is) screen with the Ubuntu logo and the typical
"five flashing dots".
At the moment of starting the DislpayManager t
Mmhhh... I don't know. Actually, I haven't tried to reinstall the whole
system from scratch. I can try, but i cannot promise to be quick because
I'll have to backup everything first.

Public bug reported:
Good day.
I'm testing pure EFI boot capability on my iMac 7.1 (graphic card ATI radeon
HD2600 pro).
So far, with Ubuntu 14.10, i've been able to boot directly into a perfectly
working system using the EFI kernel stub.
No GRUB, no ELILO, no rEFIND, no boot manager whatsoever!

Public bug reported:
Hi all.
Upon resume after a suspend, the screen gets corrupted. It is still readable
(and usable) but the graphical output is like covered with a fine grid of
vertical white lines, each (apparently) 1px wide, interleaved with 1px lines
from the underlying real image, so tha
Hi. Fresh additional information.
Googling around i've stumbled in another bug which recalls this. Apparently
lightdm is (occasionally) "killing himself".
Browsing the lightdm.log file i've found this:
[+03.05] Got signal 15 from process [the PID of lightdm itself!]
So lightdm is apparently kil
Hi again everybody.
I've made some other test and i've discovered something i suppose could be a
hint. As i've already said, i'm able to reach the lightdm login screen only,
let's say, 3 or 4 times out of 10, but all the times, i.e. ten out of ten, i
cannot see the "ubuntu starting" screen, with
Hi everybody.
I'm experiencing the same problem, with the difference that i'm not running a
virtual machine. It's Ubuntu 12.10 on a fresh new install on iMac 7.1. It
hangs, let's say, 6 or 7 times out of 10 anywhere from the first "checking
battery state" (and my desktop, obviously doesn't have
