Hi there -- I figured I'd try 15.10 a few days before release, and when
gdm is the default greeter, I see no login prompt and I have to CTRL-
ALT-F1 to get to a terminal. As far as I can tell, there's nothing
interesting in the logs in /var/log or /var/log/gdm. I just get a

testing so far, the inode of the TTY file for /dev/pts/0 has stayed 3

1) Timestamp: Easily found in the auth.log, and easily bypassed due to
an unlocked clock.
2) TTY: The tty of the first gnome-terminal running is (as far as I can
tell) /dev/pts/0. That's

14.04? As an LTS release, it would be REALLY nice to have this fix
there too... I think this patch applies cleanly to 3.11 as well as 3.12.

Well, first it has to get fixed in Ubuntu, in any version: currently
there's no fix even in the upcoming 15.04.
Once that happens we can talk about whether it's possible to backport
