Happens to me in XFCE in Ubuntu 12.10 (quantal).
See screenshots of gEdit. It's fine when only 1 tab is open, if I open
another tab the background goes black. If I close all tabs it stays
black until I restart the app.

This is incredibly annoying. Are we sure it's a bug though and not just
new expected behaviour ?
