Thanks Raymond for your help so far. I have read the other bug and there
are similarities. However I do not see the method for how I can fix
this. Could you advise please?
I tried just copying the missing codec to my proc directory but I cannot
get around the permissions

I have a dell inspiron 1525 running Ubuntu 13.10. I have no sound coming
from either the speakers or headphone jack, no sound indicator in the
top right, and play back of spotify, youtube etc is not working.
