I don't see many popups, just a few gnome-shell notifications (mounted
USB stick, etc).
It does persist after rebooting. Rebooted many times since the upgrade.

Hi,
I've disabled the extension today, and there are no listed extensions
running:
gsettings get org.gnome.shell enabled-extensions

But I'm still seeing tons of messages in syslog, about 2GB on the last 4
hours:

Hi,
No extensions installed, just plain gnome-shell that came with the
installation.
I opened a new bug, as requested:

I'm running Ubuntu 17.10 with XOrg (Wayland was impossibly laggy).
Every few seconds the window manager will stop updating. Just the mouse
keeps on moving, but videos playing will continue.
If I wait a half a minute, it will resume. If I switch to ctrl+alt+f1
and log again, it resumes too.

So... is there anyone looking into solving this issue? The workaround is
no longer giving results on Qt applications (at least not in TeXmaker).
