I hadn't had this issue with 12.10. I didn't notice until recently, that
with 13.04 Totem stopped playing audio after 1 second.
Switching off visualizations solved it for me. Thanks, Jonathan!

I had the same problem in 12.10 and now in 13.04. I closed totem
I installed dconf-tools package, I opened the dconf-editor and pressed "Set to
default" for every value under /org/gnome/Totem/ -- now totem doesn't stop
after the 1st second.

Same issue here with Rhythmbox under 12.04, however it doesn't happen
for all tracks for me. It seems to be limited to music located on my
Windows shared folder. Is this happening with music on the local drive
for anyone here?

I rebooted, and this problem did not show up. However, I fear that "Have
you tried switching it off and on again?" is a poor and very temporary
solution to the problem since I've experienced it multiple times.

Ergo, it is a problem with my sound and not RB. Is there any further
