Window placement is the job of the window manager. I *like* my windows in the
corner; if you want yours elsewhere, fix your window manager placement
algorithm.

After some study, the default window placement is done by compiz, which
apply a smart policy to avoid overlapping other windows on screen as
much as it can. (http://wiki.compiz.org/Plugins/Place).
When put window in corner, it could prevent futher further window
overlapping. That's why it
