Public bug reported: $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04
When I boot up my system, I don't get a login screen, just the boot log scrolling by, repeating after a while lines like this: * Starting anac(h)ronistic cron [ OK ] * Stopping anac(h)ronistic cron [ OK ] I can change to another virtual terminal, and start lightdm from there with sudo lightdm restart. Other people with similar problems had just lightdm in their /etc/x11 /default-display-manager. I've checked mine and it has /usr/sbin/lightdm in there, so that's not the problem. New set of logs from /var/log/lightdm/ after reboot: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/lightdm.log https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/x-0.log https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/x-0-greeter.log And the ~/.xsession-errors file https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/.xsession-errors And Xorg.o.log: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/Xorg.0.log ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: lightdm 1.2.1-0ubuntu1.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-33.52-generic 3.2.31 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-33-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu15 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Nov 21 12:01:09 2012 MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: lightdm UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) mtime.conffile..etc.init.lightdm.conf: 2012-10-17T12:06:24.332229 ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1081381 Title: No login screen appears on boot Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 When I boot up my system, I don't get a login screen, just the boot log scrolling by, repeating after a while lines like this: * Starting anac(h)ronistic cron [ OK ] * Stopping anac(h)ronistic cron [ OK ] I can change to another virtual terminal, and start lightdm from there with sudo lightdm restart.
