Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04.1

The Asus Xonar DSX is nearly identical to the Xonar DS. The
distinguishing feature is the addition of an optical digital output
port. There is a patch available here
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.alsa.devel/100921 to make the
driver treat a DSX as a DS. I applied it myself, but the alsa-driver
source is a mess (obtained via apt-get source alsa-driver) and doesn't
build (with or without modification).

** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
