Public bug reported: When I open a document in evince and attempt to resize it, the resize control in the lower right corner will resize the window to the maximum size, rather than stay under the cursor.
Grabbing a window edge and resizing from there works as expected, so as a workaround, I can resize the evince window to the size I want by dragging from the window edges rather than from the corner control; but the workaround is annoying and cumbersome, and the impulse to use the corner control is hard to unlearn. I include the OS version info etc and below that a command-line sequence demostrating the problem. Between the first and the second xwininfo commands, I just barely had time to reach for the mouse and click and hold the button over the bottom-right corner of the evince window. I am running Xubuntu, pretty much out of the box. Perhaps the problem is in the window manager or something? For lack of repeatability in other applications, I am assuming this is a bug in evince, but I could of course be wrong. I am running dual monitors, the screen geometry as reported by xwininfo -root is 3840x1080. era@precise$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 era@precise$ apt-cache policy evince evince: Installed: 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.4 Candidate: 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.4 Version table: *** 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.4 0 500 http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://mirrors.nic.funet.fi/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.4.0-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages era@precise$ : before resize era@precise$ xwininfo xwininfo: Please select the window about which you would like information by clicking the mouse in that window. xwininfo: Window id: 0x5400003 "Cloud-Storage-Security_a4.pdf" Absolute upper-left X: 152 Absolute upper-left Y: 49 Relative upper-left X: 1 Relative upper-left Y: 24 Width: 889 Height: 767 Depth: 24 Visual: 0x21 Visual Class: TrueColor Border width: 0 Class: InputOutput Colormap: 0x20 (installed) Bit Gravity State: NorthWestGravity Window Gravity State: NorthWestGravity Backing Store State: NotUseful Save Under State: no Map State: IsViewable Override Redirect State: no Corners: +152+49 -2799+49 -2799-264 +152-264 -geometry 889x767+151+25 era@precise$ sleep 2; xwininfo -id 0x5400003 xwininfo: Window id: 0x5400003 "Cloud-Storage-Security_a4.pdf" Absolute upper-left X: 152 Absolute upper-left Y: 49 Relative upper-left X: 1 Relative upper-left Y: 24 Width: 2806 Height: 768 Depth: 24 Visual: 0x21 Visual Class: TrueColor Border width: 0 Class: InputOutput Colormap: 0x20 (installed) Bit Gravity State: NorthWestGravity Window Gravity State: NorthWestGravity Backing Store State: NotUseful Save Under State: no Map State: IsViewable Override Redirect State: no Corners: +152+49 -882+49 -882-263 +152-263 -geometry 2806x768+151+25 ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1102342 Title: Lower-right resize control jumps to near-maximized Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When I open a document in evince and attempt to resize it, the resize control in the lower right corner will resize the window to the maximum size, rather than stay under the cursor.
