Public bug reported:

I should preliminary mention that I use Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. In the beginning
everything was fine, but after my attempts to tune the oss layer for the alsa
big problem has emerged (I installed oss4-base, oss-compat, alsa-oss and
ia32-alsa-oss). The problem is the following: The application based on oss
started to work, but after I had lunched my computer next morning, found that
there was no sound at all.
After some seeking I encountered that essential tree /proc/asound has gone. And
I steel have no idea how to fix it. Help please!
