I was finally able to get my headphone jack to work using HDA Analyzer.
It took awhile for me to understand what HDA Analyzer was showing me
(being a newbie and all). Turns out I just had to turn on the EAPD.
For other reading this, that also do not know what to look for...
Use HDA Analyzer to
no fix was needed, no release was needed, but not sure how to close this
other than to say the fix was released.

Dave Lentz - I have a tried headphones in which I get no sound, and also
a cord which has speaker plug on one end and Audi plugs (red and white)
on the other end plugged into a surround sound. When maxing the later,
I can hear a very fait sound during test, but only during test.

Ok, I was able to run hda-analyzer (had to setup a root password). But
no idea what to do with it now. I se enothing related to headphone out.
There are 2 codec.

Sorry, but could you clarify: are you plugging the headphones into the
jack itself or external speakers? I'm guessing it's the latter and
faint sound indicates that the amp is getting turned off when
headphones are plugged in (but I could be way off).
