I also have this issue with Ubuntu 13.10. I can fix the screen if I
plug-in a HDMI monitor and remove it. I'm using ATI propriatery driver.

tracked, could you please file a new report by executing the following in a
terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg
Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging
Problem was solved in an update under Ubuntu 13.04 and doesn't happen in
13.10 anymore either.

Kalsan, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
I get screen corruption and general problems as well.
Tried both free and proprietary drivers, 12.04.2 and 13.04.
The nasty workaround for me is to connect an external HDMI monitor, which helps
/fix/ the problem.
When Ubuntu tries to clone the laptop screen, this ends up fixing the screen
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Manual catalyst installation done, no errors. When I have two screens
connected, everything works fine (even skype loads). However, when I
disconnect a screen and reboot, the desktop and all windows are highly
distorted and the mouse doesn't point where it seems to. I attached a

and use FOSS driver instead? (Uninstall fglrx package, remove
/etc/X11/xorg.conf and reboot.)
