Trying to edit the dictionary. Some words that are obviously wrong in
the composition being checked but are not flagged as wrong by the
spell checker - suggesting that the bad spelling got into the

This bug is about a fault in TB v 24 which was fixed in 24.0.1.
The error was that inline spell-checking didn't not work at all.
The effect that you're observing is a different bug that I have reported in
bug 1100966.

I don't think that this is an ubuntu specific issue but perhaps the TB
package. I am on SuSE 12.3 and this was working fine until I upgraded
to 24.0. (from 18.0, I think)

Today I needed and installed Enigmail plugin for TB and VOILA - spell check as
you type is back!
This can be a workaround for the time until bug is fixed.

Yes, Darko Veberic is right - it works first few messages after TB
restart. I have restarted TB when installed Enigmail and that is why I
(erroneously)thought installation is the reason.

After installing the 1:24.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 (precise-updates)
update to Mozilla Thunderbird on 12.04, the Spell check as you type
feature no longer works. Downgrading to 11.0.1+build1-0ubuntu2
(precise) restores the functionality.
