looks like the original bug reporter doesn't have this bug anymore, as
the upstream bug is closed, and the kernel is also a newer one in wily
if you still see hangs in wily, file a new bug.

for what it worth,
I was having the same issues using kernel 3.18.2-031802-generic (amd64)
from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
I've updated to kernel 3.19.8-031908-generic (amd64) and I no longer get

Frequent hang and render glitches in Xorg, caused by SNA
I have reported this to the freedesktop.org, and it seems that Chris
Wilson, one of the moderator of the open-source Intel graphic driver, is
been watching my bug report.

Title:
Frequent hang
I am experiencing the same problem on a Dell Inspiron 6400 with an Intel
GM945 display controller. Symptoms occur frequently when using
chromium-browser. Forcing AccelMethod to UXA resolved the symptoms.
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04, kernel 3.13.0-32-generic, and xserver-xorg-
video-intel version
Sorry for re-opening this bug, but I think it is not fixed yet. (or
Ubuntu`s xserver-xorg-video-intel is latest in upsream. I heared that
2.99.912 is released in June 10th.)
Maybe this will help for debuging. (I got gliches 3~4 times per day.)
Do I need to test lastest one by using xorg-edgers
Except that isn't a bug in the ddx, but mesa.

All my issues (black boxes in Firefox Thunderbird, white artifacts
when moving windows in KDE, desktop becoming unresponsible for some time
and then KDE desktop effects restart) are gone with the latest update.
