Hello again. The problem remains unsolved several years later. I am with Ubuntu
Eoan (19.10).
The solution I used before to get the SPDIF digital optical output to work no
longer works. Can someone please try to fix this problem?

this bug affects UbuntuGnome 14.10
I get audio digital stereo HDMI
but no audio analog HDMI
and no surround sound
I am an amateur, not a developer
but thisis driving me crazy,
I spent atleast 40hrs to resolve this issue
to no avail.
please answer me.
