I tested with the 64 bit liveDVD 15.10 Wily Werewolf test version of
24-sep-2015.
I observed the following:
- white (or grey) text at top of screen during boot (Linux message) was maybe
larger than usual
- the Ubuntu splash screen with 5 red dots was visible (at last!)
- the cursor is not sluggis

I applied the suggested update to the Vivid enablement stack as outlined
in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack
The resulting video behaviour is not 100% but very much better.
I got some errors during the update process and captured them as best I
could via the attached 3 screenshot
