Can confirm, but haven't figured out why it occurs sometimes, and
sometimes it doesn't. Definitely no indication of the problem on any UI,
Wifi seems to be connected, it's just no internet coming through. Wifi
on/off fixes it for just a few minutes, too. Very annoying problem, and
it is due to
i have a same problem in ubuntu 14.04..but in my case it's not exactly 2
minute...most of times when i download a huge file everything's ok but when
network is idle it gets disconnected...it reminds me sth like power saving
mode! i thought maybe its cause of new thechnology of my new laptop
NetworkManager does a scan every 2 minutes.
It can lead to latency issues, lost packets or disconnections.
To disable it, you can set the BSSID in your WIFI access point profile
(in the network settings).
Maybe this will fix your issue.

USB Wifi
I have a similar issue, where exactly every 2 minutes the bandwidth
drops from ~50mbit to ~3mbit for a second or two, then goes back up. No
dropped packets or anything reported. Tested with iperf. Wired
connection shows no issue at all. Happens on both TCP and UDP tests.
