I have the same problem on Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12. Can suspend
manually, but does not suspend automatically when lid is closed.

another thing: the sudo systemctl suspend seems to be working...

System does not suspend when lid closed

I have the same problem with my Vivid installation. The laptop is a HP ProBook
470 G0.
When I close the lid, there are cases when it suspends, but in most of the
cases it doesn't.
The journalctl -b is attached, the journalctl -f shows this when the
suspend is ok:

Hm, your journal doesn't seem to contain an attempt to suspend, so this
might have been blocked by the upper layers. As you said that suspend
works correctly with the indicator menu, this looks like a bug with
unity-system-settings.
