The problem here is that printer-driver-postscript-hp provides 3 identical PPD with the same *NickName: "HP Color LaserJet 2605 Postscript (recommended)" while it should differentiate between 2605/2605dn/2605dtn. In cups webinterface 3 identical PPD entries are shown while system-config-printer only shows one under 2605 and since the Foomatic/Postscript 2605dn is more specific this one is (incorrectly) matched.

Each time I install this printer, I must change the model for 2605 and then choose the recommended Postscript PPD to have correct resolution and color options for this printer (e.g. ProRes 1200, ImageRET 2400). Since 2605dn is only a 2605 with duplex and network, it should have the same default PPD and the same choices. Also, a PCL6 PPD (with adequate resolution and color options) is needed for this printer. Maybe as a default, since Postscript is hideously slow sometimes (like bug #1095498). Actually, I have installed a generic PCL6 with Guntenprint and a HP2500 with hpcups. With these, the printer is quick but I only have monochrome output.
