Thanks for reporting.

I'm not sure how this ended up under evince, so I've taken the liberty
of moving this issue to the djmount package. As you mention, this issue
has been fixed in newer versions. If need a fix for older releases like
14.04, you may want to look into the SRU Procedure [1] to get the patch
included there as well.

Title:
  djmount crashes on stream

Status in djmount package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in djmount package in Debian:
  Unknown

Bug description:
the version 0.71 currently shipped with 14.04. crashes when starting
  to access a file.

  Steps to reproduce:
  on a 64bit system,
  sudo djmount -o allow_other /media/upnp
  browse /media/upnp
  access a file.
  In syslog, you will see:

  Mar 25 20:32:47 hobbes kernel: [17029.779312] djmount[16567]: segfault at
7f9c00
  0001f0 ip 00007f9ca8df6f3b sp 00007f9ca1f4da50 error 4 in
libupnp.so.6.3.1[7f9ca
  8de6000+34000]

It is resolved with the 0.71-7 as described in this bug:
  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=701680

Please ship the new version of djmount. If you install it manually
from debian ftp packages, it works as desired.

For the moment, there is no way to browse a dnla server like minidnla
from Ubuntu 14.04 and watch a movie. VLC is broken since 2.0.8 and
  only repaired in 3.0...
