** Description changed: According to GNOME System Monitor, the cpufreq-applet I have in the top panel of GNOME is currently using 376MB of RAM, after 8 hours uptime. This is on Ubuntu 16.04.1, all updates installed, using the version of gnome-applets which is in the default Ubuntu repositories.
