Public bug reported:

I am running 17.10, and once in a while, for no apparent reason, I am
getting high CPU usage from gnome-shell. So much so that the system
becomes unusable and the only solution is to restart.

I'm using two monitors if that makes a difference, the laptop is on a
dock , one external monitor is in landscape mode, and the other one is
in portrait mode.

Not sure what else to provide, I have run the `ubuntu-bug gnome-shell`
command so hopefully there will be debug info attached.

I'm going to reboot now because the laptop is very noisy and slow.

```
$ sudo apt-cache policy gnome-shell
