A big sorry from my side ... i totally forgot that i did also boot into Windows
during the last months at least once ... looks like windows update or something
similar broke the device, installing updates in that other system and rebooting
to ubuntu did the trick.
I had to reenable the profiles
I've renamed both profiles and pavucontrol doesn't show the dock anymore.
aplay runs just fine, however not any of the both devices (front or back jack)
play the sound

Probably you forgot to delete 91-pulseaudio.rules? Or rename all dell-
dock-*.conf in the folder of /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profile-
sets/.
And for aplay problem, try with "aplay -D plughw:CARD=Audio,DEV=0 test.wav" and
"aplay -D plughw:CARD=Audio,DEV=1 test.wav"

Hi there, i've actually even deleted the one line but still the profile
shows in pactl list as shown attached.
Also i've tried various variations of aplay -D plughw:CARD=USB Audio test.wav
and
aplay -D plughw:CARD=alsa_card.usb-Generic_USB_Audio_200901010001-00,DEV=0
test.wav
but didn't do anyth

adding .bak is ok, after reboot, you can run pactl list cards to verify if the
change takes effect or not.

And Please do a test:
backup the file /lib/udev/rules.d/90-pulseaudio.rules, then edit
90-pulseaudio.rules, find the line "ATTRS{idVendor}=="0bda",
ATTRS{idProduct}=="4014", ENV{PULSE_PROFILE_SET}="dell-dock-tb16-usb-
audio.conf"", and comment it by adding a # ahead the line, reboot and
redo the t
