I can also observe the issue if I create a custom shortcut with command "thunderbird". However if I use/redefine the existing shortcut for "Launch email client" (in the Launchers category), then the issue isn't observable. The difference lies in the way thunderbird is invoked. For the existing

I can confirm this using Ubuntu 18.04 but *only* when starting Thunderbird from a keyboard shortcut. I tried using Super+T and Ctrl- Alt-G. For me, the mouse pointer doesn't change to a spinner until Thunderbird has loaded and is checking for new mail. -- You received this bug notification
