On my Fossa the system sounds (e.g., the alert sound) are also captured
by my microphone. Thus, if I press backspace in an empty terminal, my
contacts in a video-call can hear the default bell sound making *pling*.

When opening the System > Audio on Gnome I can see a rise on the volume
bar as well.

A workaround exists by disabling the alert sounds as described in the
docs: https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/sound-alert.html.en

This has been the default since installation for me and drives my
contacts crazy. :-)
