Removing `~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions` solved the issue for
me. It also solved https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
control-center/+bug/2017173.

Thanks for the bug report.
Please try removing any local (unsupported) extensions you might have:
cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
rm -rf extensions
and then log in again.
Please also note that extensions not provided by Ubuntu are unlikely to
support GNOME 44 yet.
