Public bug reported: When my wireless router powercycles, I get dialog boxes from my network manager applets (both nm-applet and kde network management settings applet) asking for me to re-enter the password.
But they already know everything and are just being lazy! They know the correct network to which they should be connecting (as evidenced by the fact that they ask for the password for the correct network). They know the password (they've been instructed to save the password, and they have done so: when the network is already up and they start up, they connect). This morning I awoke to 35 such prompts from each applet (I am running both right now, since they have somewhat different functionality, but this does not affect this bug). Kded4 asked for the password in a "Secrets for <my correct network>" box; nm-applet wanted "Passwords or encryption keys"--again for the correct network. I wish I could report a bug here for my wireless router, which seems sensitive to power spikes or brownouts or whatever is causing it to reset :) But since it does reset, it seems that network-manager ought to be able to use the information it already has and reconnect automatically. Either network-manager or the applets know everything. Why are they so lazy?
