With the open radeon driver, I found a way to fix this problem.
If I modify the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line in /etc/default/grub and
add radeon.audio=1, the HDMI output is always visible in the list of
outputs.
my /etc/default/grub line now looks like this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet
Unfortunately haven't found a fix no.
My laptop has 3 outputs when the HDMI is plugged in (HDMI, Speakers,
Headphones), I tried to switch between speakers and headphones when the
HDMI cable wouldn't be plugged, but that didn't fix anything.
My only solution so far is to plug the HDMI cable, set
Is there a manual fix for this? I unplugged the cable and hit the road
and now have no sound.
