i finally was able to get a GUI login screen after i logged in via ALT+F2. i installed lightdm and gdm. i set lightdm to be used (dpkg-reconfigure lightdm) i typed in sudo lightdm it didnt work. no error message - just brought me back to the original boot-text screen ALT-F2 sudo reboot now
