In a new slide - secondary click edge of box click to add text - click Text
- uncheck Fit height to text - check Fit to frame - OK button - click
click to add text - repeatedly type text then click Enter and when the text

I am not sure whether I understand your expectations. Fit to Frame is
completely broken due to Bug 34467,
Can it be that your intention was to select Fit height to Text so that box
hight will be increased as necessary?
Fit to frame should change character size of text in box
