[Desktop-packages] [Bug 826089] Re: gnome-shell writes to ~/.gconf/apps/metacity/general affects Workspaces shown in unity-2d
I can confirm this is still an issue on Precise Alpha 1. The workaround is to first log into a GNOME Shell session, have 4 workspaces open in the workspace switcher, then log out and select Ubuntu 2D from the LightDM session menu. (Of course, if fewer workspaces are desired, you can also open fewer workspaces in GNOME Shell using this method. I don't know what would happen if 5 or more workspaces were opened since I didn't try that yet.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/826089 Title: gnome-shell writes to ~/.gconf/apps/metacity/general affects Workspaces shown in unity-2d Status in GNOME Shell: New Status in Unity 2D: Confirmed Status in “gnome-shell” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity-2d” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I mainly use unity (3d) but have noticed that at some point when trying unity-2d I can only see/access 1 workspace from Workspaces It turns out that if one logs into gnome-shell, when exiting it writes to - ~/.gconf/apps/metacity/general Typically it would do this, but the value used is based on workspaces open in GS when exiting entry name=num_workspaces mtime=1313702896 type=int value=1/ In the above case when logging into unity-2d only 1 workspace will be shown ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: unity-2d 4.0.0-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-8.11-generic 3.0.1 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-8-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Aug 13 22:32:01 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Alpha i386 (20110731) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: unity-2d UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/826089/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 907644] [NEW] Audio stops working on repeated play of MKV file
Public bug reported: With just one file on the playlist and looped (with repeat mode on), at about 0:24 during the second play the audio goes mute and doesn't recover by itself. Restarting the video by double-clicking on the playlist item makes the audio come back. The funny thing is, if you add another MKV file to the playlist and let it loop between the two files, there's no problem. But with the single file repeating it looks to be 100% reproducible. Doesn't seem to be reproducible using MP4 or AVI files, just MKV. Not reproducible with VLC. I've thus far found at least two MKV files [1], [2] that reproduce this 100 %. IIRC, the issue didn't occur with these same files back in Lucid. Steps to reproduce: 1. Download one of the aforementioned MKV files. 2. Load it in Totem. 3. Set 'Repeat Mode' on. 4. Play the file, wait for it to loop. What happens: At about 0:24 during the second play the audio goes mute. What I expect to happen: The audio to continue playing normally during the second and subsequent loops also. *[1] http://www.archive.org/download/GhostbustersToolAssistedSpeedrun/ghostbusters-tas-glitchman.mkv *[2] http://www.archive.org/download/NesAction52theCheetahmenBySwordlessLinkIn0356.06/action52-cheetahmen-tas-swordlesslink.mkv ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.35.2-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-6.12-generic 3.2.0-rc6 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-6-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.90-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CheckboxSubmission: 09ae689090491ca53449589269e4bfd8 CheckboxSystem: edda5d4f616ca792bf437989cb597002 Date: Thu Dec 22 07:26:46 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/totem InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala - Release amd64 (20091027) LocalLibraries: /usr/local/lib/librtmp.so.0 SourcePackage: gstreamer0.10 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2011-12-22 (0 days ago) ** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug apport-lpi local-libs precise running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/907644 Title: Audio stops working on repeated play of MKV file Status in “gstreamer0.10” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: With just one file on the playlist and looped (with repeat mode on), at about 0:24 during the second play the audio goes mute and doesn't recover by itself. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 907644] Re: Audio stops working on repeated play of MKV file
I should supplement add another MKV file to the playlist and there's no problem with that the second file could also be the same file, so that the playlist is comprised of two instances of the same file. This way it works audiowise the way it should even with the file there just once, so it's an effective, albeit silly workaround. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/907644 Title: Audio stops working on repeated play of MKV file Status in “gstreamer0.10” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: With just one file on the playlist and looped (with repeat mode on), at about 0:24 during the second play the audio goes mute and doesn't recover by itself. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 889878] Re: Huawei E398 dongle problem and not possible to choose 4G
Hi, I can't upgrade my systems to 3.2-rc6 for a while. I will try it later on. But may be you can first try: - to put SIM card to normal phone (at same time you verify SIM condition) - configure with phone not to use PIN - put SIM card back to Huawei dongle - test Br Mika 2011/12/21 Marek Bardoński 889...@bugs.launchpad.net Hi! I also have this modem (only for 7days trial period). On standard oneiric kernel, modem isn't recognized by system. After upgrade to 3.2-rc6, system see it but I'm not able to connect using Network Manager - it asking about PIN code, but after entering it, their entry in network manager list is gray and not clickable. Can You tell me, how to connect with it manually? I will test it and report here results. Remember, that I have only 7 days. Thanks! Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult
Maybe the best would be a configurable size for the hidden grab area :) Currently it's difficult to change, how I seen the size is hardcoded into the theme right? Alienware m15x, 1900 * 1200. If I hit the grab area first time using the touchpad it's a fluke. If I hit it with the trackball, it's only with a degree of concentration. Same laptop, same trackball and touchpad, Windows at the same rez - no problem. /shrug Been complaining about this for getting one for 2 years and it actually got resolved. Then Oneric came out and it was back to square one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160311 Title: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Released Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts: Fix Released Status in The Metacity Window Manager: In Progress Status in Release Notes for Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in Unity 2D: New Status in “human-gtk-theme” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “light-themes” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “human-gtk-theme” source package in Maverick: Invalid Status in “light-themes” source package in Maverick: Triaged Status in “metacity” source package in Maverick: Triaged Bug description: * No more comments needed This should mostly be fixed for Natty and might get backported to earlier releases as well. * *Blueprint for Natty, Ubuntu 11.04: https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/packageselection- dx-n-resizing-windows Work items1 * Make sure the new resize grip fits in current applications; doesn't interfere with anything. Set the following values in frame_geometry_normal as desired: distance name=left_width value=3/ distance name=right_width value=3/ distance name=bottom_height value=3/ Binary package hint: metacity - The issue has been an issue for users (especially of large) screens for several releases- Trackpad users seem to be particularly impacted by this- The issue appears to have been significantly aggravated in Lucid by changing the border width from 3 pixels to 1 pixel The window borders in metacity are far too thin to be used for comfortable window resizing, and resize handles are not available in all applications (or even most). In fact, of all the windows I have open right now, not a single one of them has a resize handle. The result is that I get a lot of misses when I try to drag a window border, which usually results in my clicking on the wrong window altogether. The best fix for this usability bug is to create an invisible region around each non-maximized window about 4px thick that can be used for resizing (in addition to the visible border). Or perhaps there should be a border thickness option on the System Preferences Windows dialog (although the default thickness should still be increased considerably). Ideally all windows would also have a resize handle but I realize that these have to be application controlled (at least that seems to be the position of the metacity team). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 561237] Re: wep, wpa and wpa2 wifi networks use the same icon

In the current left-click, pull-down menu it only distinguishes between open and encrypted wifi networks. I believe that in karmic it was still possible to understand the type of network encryption just by looking at the available networks. This should be reasonably simple to fix even in Ubuntu itself.
