1. Close all System Settings windows.
2. From a terminal, run
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME gnome-control-center online-accounts
If Google is listed, select Google and either click the - button to remove the
account or turn Chat OFF.

The update to dkms did not help. A piece of output from pulseaudio, once
audio playback is broken, when playing a video with mplayer:

When image in video quickly changes there is edge on the middle of the
screen, maybe like there is no double buffering. There is no such effect
on the same hardware in windows 7.
