The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding
gnome-software. This problem was most recently seen with package version
3.20.1+git20161013.0.d77d6cf-0ubuntu2, the problem page at
Juan's fix worked for me.
I find that I cannot slow down the mouse speed through both the system menu and
unity-tweaks, but i can get used to it i guess. It has tho given me back
middle-mouse-button click emulation by means of using left and right click
simultaneously, so this is a win win
