I also got the error after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04
I solved it touching the file /etc/xdg/akonadi/mysql-global.conf.
So it seems the file is getting cached somewhere
I think the bug should be reopened and investigated further. Maybe it is
necessary to flush the cache where the file is

I did a fresh install of 16.04 and an upgrade to 16.1 with no other
changes. I too lost the wired connection completely (including the
applet). I can confirm that fix #6 worked flawlessly.

Hello,
Is there any update this bug?
I have an Aquaris 4.5 on OTA-15 and I am still having that same issue
with my new Pioneer car audo. Can pick up calls but sound is not routed
through car speakers and car microphone does not seem to record sound.
I had the same issue with an Alpine care
What about it fails to install/setup? Was there any error message?

Lets call invalid as option to allow all users will allow guest wifi
automatically. Whether this should be the default setting would be the
only possible bug, not sure that matters
