Are you really complaining about the lack of shadows? That *is* a bug.
As far as I can see that particular issue only happens for csd windows.

I switched from the open source xserver-xorg-video-nouveau driver to
nvidia-375 in the Additional Drivers tab of the Software & Updates
application and was able to recover after locking my screen with Ctrl-
Alt-L, which was locking up my mouse and keyboard before.

output in dmesg which may explain why bluetooth works while the WiFi
doesn't:

I managed to solve my issue: I found a passive DisplayPort to HDMI

Somehow on the version of Evolution 3.22.6 that I am using when adding a
google account it allowed me to sign in to google and authorize the
adding of the account. This was after installing account-plugin-google
on Kubuntu 17.04. I'm not 100% sure that helped but I figured it might
after searching
Banshee running on zesty, 22k tracks, disabled all extensions, still
crashing on importing files or folders. Problem was not present under
yakkety.

The same config file used from bash, works fine, in GUI ignores most of pushed
routes.
There are lots logs like:

This problem has shown up in 16.04 with alsamixer v1.1.0. Did someone remove
the patch or fail to integrate the fix into 16.04
had to run alsamixer from terminal and unmute the speaker from there. Muting
and un-muting in rhythem box does not fix the HDMI sound problem.

Gnome Shell and Unity do. Is there any chance we can get wine to set
StartupWMClass in the .desktop files it generates to the executable name
it sets in WM_CLASS so we can match without unreliable hackery?

I've managed to fix partially the problem or at least I can narrow it
down. So , if I override all my other audio lines via hdajackretask
module and only enable the headphone one, the sound is perfect. What

The workaround fixes it for me too. Other wifi adapters I have (one using
rt73usb, the other rtl8812au) don't need it, so maybe the bug lies in athk9_htc.
How did you find the workaround? (just curious, apart from this bug my google
searches only gave me outdated or irrelevant information).

As an aside, oddly enough, it doesn't affect everything. Nautilus is
ignoring the theme settings and still has an horizontally-expanding
sidebar on hover with my workaround in place. But that's probably a bug
in Nautilus.

Thanks for the detailed report!
Chromium actually uses the default font and font size configured on the system.
You can change that in gnome-tweak-tool, go to "Fonts > Interface" and select a
different font/size.
I’ll mark this bug invalid as this is behaving as designed.
