There is no enthusiasm among the Ubuntu developers to go back to a TCL
dispatcher, so I have made an alternative fix via the attached debdiff
where I simply modified the C patch by removing the problematic newline.
Built with the modified patch in this PPA:
@Josua: Thanks for your answer! (I didn't see it before posting the
debdiff.)
I may make an attempt with install-static later then. Possibly a better
alternative for Ubuntu (easier maintenance) than keeping the C patch.

Thanks for the feedback. I installed gcin in a bionic VM but I wasn't
able to actually use it to input text. As I can't read Chinese, I'm not
sure how to operate it. Could you explain how to configure gcin to input
text in Chinese in Ubuntu, so I can try and reproduce the problem?

There is a hidden category in the snap store called "ubuntu-firstrun" which
shows appropriate snaps to show the user. This category was created after
gnome-initial-setup had Snap support added to it and used the "featured"
category.

My native language is Spanish and my fullname use accents and hyphens
(Néstor Rodríguez-Triana Domínguez) but it not appear in the gdm3 login
screen, only my username (nrtriana). My locale is configured properly

Note that Nautilus won’t warn you before *trashing* (Del) a file, but
will before *deleting* (Shift+Del) a file.
Even in Windows (since Windows 8), trashing a file doesn’t trigger a
confirmation dialog, just if you are to delete it permanently… This
default behavior seems fine to me…

I know the login screen has logic to switch between showing the full
name or the user name. But I don't know what the condition for switching
is...

I think the problem here is that gnome-shell detects the lid is closed
already and treats that like you just closed the lid immediately on
login.
I have heard about this kind of problem before and am not sure if it's
already been fixed in later versions.
