[Desktop-packages] [Bug 908326] Re: Pair kerning fails in Impress slide show
OK. Looking at existing bugs I find that upstream bug 43009 has similar characteristics to this bug, and refers back to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/779366 which appears very close to this bug. I shall look at this further and make appropriate links between (duplicate?) bugs in launchpad and check that full information has been sent upstream. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/908326 Title: Pair kerning fails in Impress slide show Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite: Incomplete Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: 1) lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-impress libreoffice-impress: Installed: 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.4.3-3ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages 3) What is expected to happen in LibreOffice Impress via the Terminal: cd ~/Desktop wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/908326/+attachment/2652710/+files/example.odp loimpress -nologo example.odp is the kerning looks the same in Normal mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/908326/+attachment/2645431/+files/Design%20view.png as it does in Slide Show mode. 4) What happens instead is the kerning is different in Slide Show mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/908326/+attachment/2645432/+files/Slide%20show%20view.png . [Desktop-packages] [Bug 910559] [NEW] socks_remote_dns should be true by default
Public bug reported: socks_remote_dns is set to false by default, but in many cases this setting is required to be set to true for proper operation. I am not aware of any situation in which the default setting of false works better than setting it to true. If the socks client and the socks server receives different DNS responses, it means they are somehow tailored towards who will be receiving them. Since it is ultimately the socks server, that connects to the IP address returned by DNS, using the DNS response tailored towards the server is better than using those tailored towards the client. Cases where the default setting of false breaks includes: - Client has IPv4 and IPv6 support, server has only IPv4 support. - The http server is within some enterprise and only accessible from inside. A socks proxy (for example through ssh) is used to achieve connectivity for a client on the move. - A socks proxy is used for additional privacy. @chris Thanks however, at the time of the, problem since firefox would not even start up, I could not see a way of using the normal methods of reporting. No process id for example. and such as ubuntu-bug firefox simply crashed out immediately still again offering only the firefox crash report. If I have missed a method here, then I am sorry - I could not see it in the wiki. Maybe the wiki could be updated in some way to point me more obviously to a method which can report a crashing app such as this please? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 901388] Re: deja-dup-monitor crashed with SIGSEGV in child_setup()
I suggest that the title be changed to somehow reflect that this is (apparently indirectly) related to g_spawn_async_with_pipes() too. I was about to report a duplicate with the title this bug initially had, and I see others have fallen for it too (Ref: Bug #904899). As it stands, bug reporters have to catch g_spawn_async_with_pipes() from a greyed-out comment made by a bot. I think some confusion could be avoided if Launchpad, when suggesting this, had g_spawn_async_with_pipes() right in the title. Bump! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/907198 Title: rhythmbox hangs, freezes after launch, start, it takes long till ready to play Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: After launching rhythmbox 2.90.1 in Ubuntu 11.10 (AMD64) it would show the rhythmbox screen, but it freezes for more than 10 minutes, so the loading till you can play a song takes a long time. If the database is empty the starting of Ubuntu takes only seconds, but I have about 5000 titles in the database, so it takes more than 10 minutes. I had no problem in Ubuntu 10.10 (i386), rhythmbox started quickly and had no problems with the 5000 songs. When I start rhythmbox in the terminal with rhythmbox -d, I get the output* I have attached. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 350407]
Until this bug is fixed, couldn't Firefox display a warning saying that some CSS files are missing when doing the Save Page As / Web Page, complete? (I don't know the Firefox internals, but since the page is already displayed, I suppose that Firefox could have this information quite easily.) This would avoid to make the user wonder why a saved page looks wrong when opened, because Firefox doesn't display any error when a CSS file is not found. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350407 Title: Locally saved webpages not displaying correctly Status in The Mozilla Firefox Browser: Confirmed Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: WORKAROUND: Firefox Scrapbook Addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/427 -- Firefox Information: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032711 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.8 Web pages that have been saved locally are not displaying correctly. To see this problem run the following steps: 1). Go to the jwebunit website ( http://jwebunit.sourceforge.net/ ). Suggesting saving a page from this website as a test since this provided a very good example of the problem. 2). Right click on the main web page and select Save As... 3). Save the web page somewhere on the local drive. On Ubuntu there is an option in the save dialog specifying how to save the web page. Make sure that Web page, complete is selected. 4). Navigate to the location where the web page was stored and attempt to load the saved page back into firefox At this point the web page that is loaded from the hard disk should display very differently than the real web page. Styles and elements of the original web page should be missing. I also tested this same process on Windows XP SP2 (using firefox 3.0.8) and I see the exact same behavior. This seems to eliminate the problem being caused by local browser settings (since I see the same thing under Windows and Linux on two separate machines with totally different preferences). Furthermore I was able to run steps 1 - 4 using Opera 9.64 and this produces a saved web page that displays identically to the web page navigated to on the internet. ...Additionally I just tried loading the webpage saved locally using opera and this loads into firefox correctly. So the problem appears to be with the actual web page save using firefox and not the fact that the page is saved locally. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 909437] Re: Changing status from hidden to away/busy after wake up or just after logging
* Is this reproducible? Should be. * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? 1-Hit your Messaging Menu in Ubuntu 11.10; 2-Choose Chat to open Empathy. The current status is Offline; 3-Change your status to Hidden. Empathy starts to load your account(s) (i have two accounts configured). Even during loading, Empathy changes the status to Busy although anyone has asked for that; 4-Change that to Hidden again; It is changed back to hidden; 5-Now, suspend you laptop|computer using top-right-most menu or closing your laptop's lid; 6-Wait it to be really suspended; 7-Now, wake-up your laptop. The internet connection will be activated again. Just after that, Empathy starts to load again. But, it is loaded in BUSY state, not hidden as it was left. It is very annoying. Hope you can do a good work to fix that. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 910643] Re: LibreOffice crashes when opening odt file
LPR, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/910643 Title: LibreOffice crashes when opening odt file Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: My son was doing the final changes to his newspaper while the LibreOffice started to crash always few seconds after opening the odt file.
