With the new decorations in Ubuntu 14.04 just appeared, the bug has
become much worse. Clicking on/off the titlebar of a window shows
graphical corruption much of the time.

About scaling and trimming, i'd expect the image to be centered first
and then proportionately scaled up/down and trimmed.

The source image is 2560x1600 which is 16:10 and my resolution is 16:9.
So it will be cropped. Also, a quick on-screen measure with a ruler
shows the main cross is off centre so it is not aligned with the grid.

Unity greeter just scales and trims the image so it fits the monitor
resolution. So it is likely to misalign if the original image is not the
same aspect ratio as your monitor. In saying that, I would expect for a
fairly common resolution like mine (1366x768) it should align pretty
well.

I am running Debian Wheezy on that machine right now - and it still has the
same issue unless I add the boot parameter `atkbd.reset` I can't say for

I have now also tried to update BIOS from wine 1.6.1 to no avail. I will
now install XP to perform BIOS update.

The laptop is doing a hybrid sleep: writing to disk and then sleeping to
RAM. It does not happen when I revert to the default suspend-only mode.
Also, I notice this happens only when my RAM utilisation is high. I
don't know if that is a bug or intended because my swap partition is
small.

to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privile
hi i would be most grateful for any help on this issue, have tried
running through alsa install but seeed to make no difference and on
sound options there is nothing in output device list, sound is still
there but with frequent pops. Thankyou ubuntu community, one love x

Thanks for reporting this bug. Just to be clear - is the laptop in fact
'suspending' or 'hibernating'? Do you have this same problem if you
remove the custom configuration for hybrid suspend?
