I just removed every file inside ~/.local/share/gnome-software/ folder.
A moment later (didn't touch the machine), I installed the updates. "sudo apt

invisible.
I can restore the mouse cursor by switching away from the X console, and
back again (i.e. ctrl-alt-F1, then ctrl-alt-F7).
