[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1617468] Re: Package contains files in /usr/@DATADIRNAME@/locale

2016-12-16 Thread Gregory Gulbrandson
The correct directory for the file is /usr/share/locale/*

I checked this by extracting the file, moving the locales to the correct
directory, and rebuilding the package. After that they installed to the
correct path versus the debian package. I do not know where these
locale files are called from, so I cannot test if this breaks anything
(or if anything else is broken right now, I'm sure a locale about page
is somewhere.)

Just installed yakkety-updates/universe chromium-browser

I'm no longer shut out of Amazon (Cloudfront) nor IBM intranet sites.
I'll find out if it's a permanent fix ten weeks from now.

  XWayland selects incorrect mode

Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  XWayland, running under the system compositor, is selecting the wrong
  mode on my system. It's using 1360x768, whereas weston is actually
  running at 1366x768.

  I'm not sure if this is because weston is sending incorrect mode
  information or if xwayland is interpreting the mode information
  incorrectly.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 623294] Re: /etc/init.d/x11-common's chmod 1777 fails to clear setuid and setgid

Title:
  /etc/init.d/x11-common's chmod 1777 fails to clear setuid and setgid

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xorg

  /etc/init.d/x11-common in package x11-common, version 1:7.5+5ubuntu1
  from 10.04 includes

  $ awk 'BEGIN {RS = ""; ORS = "\n\n"} /chmod/' /etc/init.d/x11-common
  set_up_socket_dir () {
if [ "$VERBOSE" != no ]; then
  log_begin_msg "Setting up X server socket directory $SOCKET_DIR..."
fi
if [ -e $SOCKET_DIR ] && [ ! -d $SOCKET_DIR ]; then
  mv $SOCKET_DIR $SOCKET_DIR.$$
fi
mkdir -p $SOCKET_DIR
chown root:root $SOCKET_DIR
chmod 1777 $SOCKET_DIR
do_restorecon $SOCKET_DIR
[ "$VERBOSE" != no ] && log_end_msg 0 || return 0
  }

  set_up_ice_dir () {
if [ "$VERBOSE" != no ]; then
  log_begin_msg "Setting up ICE socket directory $ICE_DIR..."
fi
if [ -e $ICE_DIR ] && [ ! -d $ICE_DIR ]; then
  mv $ICE_DIR $ICE_DIR.$$
fi
mkdir -p $ICE_DIR
chown root:root $ICE_DIR
chmod 1777 $ICE_DIR
do_restorecon $ICE_DIR
[ "$VERBOSE" != no ] && log_end_msg 0 || return 0
  }
  $

  Both functions allow for the directory, /tmp/.X11-unix or
  /tmp/.ICE-unix, to already exist. They then attempt to ensure it has
  the correct owner, group, and permissions. But the

  chmod 1777 ...

  fails to do this. chmod(1) says

  chmod preserves a directory's set-user-ID and set-group-ID bits
  unless you explicitly specify otherwise. You can set or clear the
  bits with symbolic modes like u+s and g-s, and you can set (but not
  clear) the bits with a numeric mode.

  This is allowed by chmod(1posix).

  For an octal integer mode operand, the file mode bits shall be set
  absolutely.  [Sounds good so far.]

  For each bit set in the octal number, the corresponding file
  permission bit [meaning rwx] shown in the following table shall be
  set; all other file permission bits shall be cleared. For regular
  files, for each bit set in the octal number corresponding to the
  set-user-ID-on-execution or the set-group-ID-on-execution, bits
  shown in the following table shall be set; if these bits are not set
  in the octal number, they are cleared. [Good.] For other file
  types [e.g. directories], it is implementation-defined whether or
  not requests to set or clear the set-user-ID-on-execution or
  set-group-ID-on-execution bits are honored.

  IOW, the numeric mode 1777 will *never* clear the setuid and setgid
  bits. A symbolic mode must be used to do this.

  $ mkdir foo
  $ l -d foo
  drwxr-xr-x 2 ralph ralph 4096 2010-08-24 11:07 foo
  $ chmod 1777 foo
  $ l -d foo
  drwxrwxrwt 2 ralph ralph 4096 2010-08-24 11:07 foo

  Correct. x11-common's chmod works in this case.

  $ chmod u+s foo
  $ l -d foo
  drwsrwxrwt 2 ralph ralph 4096 2010-08-24 11:07 foo
  $ chmod 1777 foo
  $ l -d foo
  drwsrwxrwt 2 ralph ralph 4096 2010-08-24 11:07 foo

  Wrong. It fails to clear setuid.

  $ chmod u-s,g+s foo
  $ l -d foo
  drwxrwsrwt 2 ralph ralph 4096 2010-08-24 11:07 foo
  $ chmod 1777 foo
  $ l -d foo
  drwxrwsrwt 2 ralph ralph 4096 2010-08-24 11:07 foo

  Wrong. Nor does it clear setgid.

  $ chmod a-s=rwxt foo
  $ l -d foo
  drwxrwxrwt 2 ralph ralph 4096 2010-08-24 11:07 foo
  $

  The symbolic `a-s=rwxt' should be used for both of x11-common's chmods
  in order to have the desired effect.

  Because of the incorrect 1777, users are seeing errors from xorg's
  xserver-wrapper.c,

  X: /tmp/.X11-unix has suspicious mode (not 1777) or is not a
  directory, aborting.

  see bug #622179. Perhaps this is being caused by the parent directory,
  /tmp, being setgid and this is inherited by the mkdir(1), see mkdir(2),
  and not cleared by the chmod.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 19320] Re: gksuexec should allow to select software through a menu

Title:
  gksuexec should allow to select software through a menu

Status in gksu package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
  The use case "Joe wants to edit a configuration file as root" or, more general
  "Joe wants to run software as root", is currently hard to deal with.

  When running applications with Applications -> Run application..., user can
  select an application in a list of "known applications" (whose
user-friendliness
  could be improved, but that's not the point).

  But when running applications with Applications -> System tools -> Run as
  different user, the user has to know the executable name, which isn't very
user
  friendly.

  Possible solutions :
  - add the sudo feature to Applications -> Run applications (my favorite
  solution, even if it is bloated)
  - add the software list to gksuexec (causes duplication of code - not really
  justified except from a development POV)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs

2016-12-16 Thread Richard Merren
For those in a lurch because of this error, you can always install
Chrome (the non-open-source version) and use it until this situation is
cleared up. Chrome and Chromium seem to be able to exist side-by-side,
and when this is resolved you can remove it or switch back to Chromium
and just leave it for the next crisis. Not ideal, and definitely not for
those who use Chromium to avoid proprietary software, but a workaround
that lets you keep your workflow going without switching to Firefox.

Status in Inkscape:

Bug description:
  When printing on 0.46 branch, objects with masks don't appear on the
  print.

  In the attached picture, the turtle sitting in the water has a mask
  with a gradient to make his feet fade into the water. He prints fine
  in 0.45.1, but in 0.46 branch he's gone.

  Exporting to bitmap works fine on 0.46. Printing to bitmap (Render as
  bitmap) works fine also on 0.46. Save as PDF via cairo keeps the
  turtle but loses all blurs (blurs not implemented in PDF) and the
  mask, so his legs are fully visible. I think PDF should be capable of
  a blend to transparent, because the leaves on the bushes blend to
  transparent and they export to pdf beautifully.

moving "key-direction 1" line before line.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650684] [NEW] Position of gnome-system-monitor is not remembered on screen when under Wayland

2016-12-16 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with GNOME 3.22 and since switching from
Xorg to Wayland via the login screen I have noticed that with the gnome-
system-monitor that it always starts off on the left hand side of the
screen, and I like to have it on the right hand side, so that is where I
always put it. However, if I restart it, it always goes back to the left
side rather than remembering where it was before like it does if I close
it when it is fullscreen.

So far it seems that this issue only affects the gnome-system-monitor,
all other applications behave as expected in regards to this matter.

  I have found that after switching from Xorg to Wayland on Ubuntu GNOME

Bug description:
  During configuring of a VPN, Network Manager normally allows you to
  specify additional DNS servers that are located on the virtual private
  network:

  http://neartalk.com/ss/2016-10-16_001_601x625.png

  However, in Ubuntu 16.10 the network manager is ignoring the
  additional DNS that I've specified at the dialog I've linked above.

  Normally, after connecting to a VPN (where additional DNS servers are
  specified), the command (below) will show (in addition to your local
  DNS servers) the remote DNS servers (located on the VPN):

  nmcli dev show | grep DNS

  Unfortunately, in Ubuntu 16.10, this is not working. Consequently, I
  cannot resolve remote computers by their computer-name, which is very
  inconvenient considering that I have over 100 Remmina connections set
  to resolve by name. Right now, I have to manually discover the IP
  addresses of the remote computer-names before connecting to the
  computers with Remmina.

  I've confirm this issue on both OpenVPN and Cisco vpnc connections.
  The additional DNS server are not making it here:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650627] [NEW] nvidia 367.57 performance with kde horrible compared to 361.42 or 370.28

2016-12-16 Thread Mark Zealey
Public bug reported:

I installed 16.04 about 6 months back and got nvidia driver version
361.42 installed with it on my GeForce 940M card. glxgears produced
around 3800 fps on initial startup. Today I did a full upgrade of my
laptop and as a result nvidia 367.57 was installed. This produces around
800 fps and when switching between activities in kde and moving the
mouse I experience massive cursor lag etc. To see if it was related to
nvidia drivers or something having been upgraded in KDE I simply
installed latest PPA version (370.28) of nvidia and after a reboot this
totally fixed performance both in terms of feel and glxgears fps is back
to normal.

Obviously this is something of an upstream problem, however it seems to
me that perhaps the upgrade to 367 drivers should be delayed?

Mark

Thanks. I've done that.

In my case, there are (generally) no crashes, just freezes and terribly
slow scrolling, but there may be some common cause for sure, at least to
part of the problem...

Title:
  libreoffice-gtk conflicts with large lo-writer file

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed originally from a weekly beta2 ISO;
  the image was verified at the time to match its checksum and the
  install has since consistently been upgraded.

  From the start, Libreoffice writer (1:5.1.2-0ubuntu1 - amd64) has
  struggled with a "large" file I have been working on since Ubuntu
  15.04, although it works perfectly for newly created files or
  existing smaller files, though.

  I was hoping to continue using my exiting file, however: one that
  counts about 14,000 paragraphs, 3.5 million characters and some 300
  tables as well a large number of bookmarks/internal links).

  I should have hoped that LO would simply load it and let me get on
  with my work as it did before.

  Unfortunately, here is what really happens whenever I try to load it:
  - when the progress bar completes , Writer greys out and locks up for several
minutes on end (anything from a few minutes to a quarter of an hour)
  - during that time, the interface is clearly distorted (two overlapping
status bars - duplicated vertical scrollbars at the right side - the title bar
covering up the menu bar as well as part of the upper toolbar - the horizontal
ruler shifted to the right, causing the "comments" column to appear on the left
rather than the right)
  - when the file eventually gets loaded and the interface is restored, the
menus turns out to be unusable: the drop-downs are narrow blacks slabs without
any entries and without any responsiveness
  - the page count is wildly off: the file is about 1100 pages, yet Writer
reports over 1800; at any moment, however, it will update its count to reflect
the actual number.
  - random actions can produce a new prolonged lock-up; in particular copying
text, opening up the navigator or doing a search.

  The only way to open the file in a usable way is to restart Writer
  several times in a row (which takes LOTS of patience considering the
  time it takes the file to load...)

  Apparently, the only way to avoid these problems is to delete the
  libreoffice-gnome/gtk packages. Unfortunately, that leaves me with an
  interface that looks like are relic from a previous century

  I did not much like that, so I have experimented with the debs
  available directly from the LibreOffice project. Sadly, I am seeing
  the same behaviour.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1577093] Re: libreoffice-gtk conflicts with large lo-writer file

2016-12-16 Thread dino99
@emrys

please change the status of your report as you have provided the
requested example file (otherwise that report will be closed soon).

note: my main issue is with Calc (5.2.2, 5.2.3, 5.2.4); as you its a
GUI/Gtk issue: scrolling use too much cpu, and closing the calc's file
ends with a crash (pointing to libuno_cppuhelpergcc3; checking its
properties, its type is "link to unknown" which looks suspect. wonder if
yours also as mine.

  No sound on ASUS Xonar DGX Soundcard (16.04)

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Hello,
  On Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Alpha), with the latest package updates (28/02/2015),
Linux 4.4 and PulseAudio 8.0, I can't play any sound on my ASUS Xonar DGX.
Tested with the app to test speakers, Firefox, VLC, and checked with
pavucontrol, the progress bar indicate that a sound is played on the card, but
no sound on the speakers.

  I report this bug because it works on the same version with the
  integrated card of my motherboard. (ASUS H87-PLUS)

  On Ubuntu 14.04 (PulseAudio 4.0), the sound work correctly (with all
  defaults params)

  The speakers connected are the Logitech Z9600 (by 3 jacks), and I
  precise that they are correctly plugged in, etc..., it works when I
  connect it to the integrated sound card of my motherboard (and if I
  use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS)

  I don't know if it's a normal development bug, but in doubt I report it.
  Thank you,
  Valentin Crône

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1577093] Re: libreoffice-gtk conflicts with large lo-writer file

2016-12-16 Thread Gorka Navarrete
This seems to be a widespread and critical issue.

With both Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10, with different computers (e.g. Xeon
64GB RAM 1TB SSD). I have problems with the UI freezing in Writer,
Impress, etc. when opening a big file (e.g. with a bunch of images, or
Mendeley references), or various mid-sized files to the point it becomes
unusable.

For example, having a couple relatively big .odp files opened and
copying slides between them completely freezes the UI for a couple
minutes.

This happens with LO 5.2.2.2, the 5.3 Beta2, 5.0.6...

Getting rid of libreoffice-gtk* helps a bit, but scrolling is still a
pain, etc.

Title:
  libreoffice-gtk conflicts with large lo-writer file

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed originally from a weekly beta2 ISO;
  the image was verified at the time to match its checksum and the
  install has since consistently been upgraded.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650192] Re: Screen DPI detected incorrectly by xdpyinfo

2016-12-16 Thread Jan Baier
Yes, yes I have four 1280x1024 monitors in one row. After I switched all
outputs to digital ones (as seen in xrand.log), the resolution reported
by xdpyinfo is wrong -- negative. Expected resolution is somewhere
around 96 dpi and definitely not -2147483648.

  The 'same' program works flawlessly when using C++/Qt. I'm seeing the exact
behavior when using PySide instead of PyQt4 by the way. I'm also seeing this
error when trying the original demo application from python-qt4-doc. Also,
calling
  QtGui.QApplication.setGraphicsSystem("opengl")
  produces the same errors.

  I'm experiencing this problems on 11.10 and 12.04 with the ubuntu-
  provided nvidia drivers (where 12.04 includes the most recent driver
  for now). After installing the driver using the original NVidia
  installer, the applications work as expected.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1316873] Re: Left mouse button stops working

2016-12-16 Thread Alexander Stohr
PS:
based on x11 log data (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) i tried out this:

sudo cat /dev/input/event6 | od -x

when moving the mouse new data arrived.
but no data arrived when hitting any button or when turning the mouse wheel.

checking other such input devices did not provide any
(useable/related/promising) result.

  Left mouse button stops working

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  This problem has plagued me for a few years across different laptops
  and Ubuntu versions. Current I am experiencing this on a Dell Inspiron
  15z running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

  It typically starts after I have used the chat or call feature in
  gmail, by clicking on the phone icon in the left chat margin. I am a
  Firefox user and have not tested this with chrome etc. It has not
  happened if i dont install google-talkplugin so it is quite possible
  that the plugin is to blame.

  Symptom
  ===
  The left mouse button on all attached mice - USB , Trackpad and touch - will
not do anything however the right mouse button continues to work. This
happens to all applications and also to the desktop. The keyboard continues to
function as normal.

  When this occurs , my solution is to Alt-F4 close all windows and log
  out of the X session. When I re-login the left mouse button works as
  normal.

  This is an irritant and work disruptor as I have to save all browser and
desktop applications to safe state before I logout to reset the mouse. I will
appreciate any soltion or workaround.

Title:

  Symptom
  ===

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1575354] Re: Connecting to VPN times out after 25 seconds if login credentials not entered

2016-12-16 Thread Jeremy Hoyland
I have also hit this bug in latest version of Linux Mint 18. I can
confirm that the timeout has somehow reverted to 25 seconds, while
previous versions of network manager allowed much longer.

Note that the timeout is overall from the moment of the first POST to
the VPN address.

Our corporate VPN gateway redirects to the nearest VPN available.
Assigning this new redirect takes almost all of the 25 seconds.
Occasionally one can type in username/password and get in under the 25
sec bar. If the 25 seconds started from the actual VPN negotiation it
would work just fine.

Using the command:
sudo openconnect -u myusername mycorporate.accessaddress.com

..allows me to launch my vpn session manually. It also prints out the
redirect address, and I can then create a new network-manager vpn
connection with this address, which connects much faster. I am using
this as a workaround for the time being.

  Some bugs in evolution-data-server (e-d-s) were causing daily limit errors
for those using Google services with evolution-data-server and apps that use it
(Evolution is a prominent example). Unfortunately, it looks like users using
older versions of e-d-s are causing those errors to affect everyone using e-d-s
since they are using the same API key. It's very difficult for GNOME to push
everyone to use an updated version of their software.

  Therefore, this update changes the API key used by those using the GNOME
  Online Accounts feature for Google services.

  Test Case
  =
  Restart your computer after applying the updates.

  Then use Evolution with a Google account configured by gnome-control-
  center's Online Accounts. The easiest way to configure that correctly is
  to use Ubuntu GNOME.

  Make sure that Evolution works without getting authentication errors
  with your Google services.

  Regression Potential

  I think the only possibility for regression is if GNOME did not configure the
key correctly with Google's developer platform.

- This update depends on the pending evolution-data-server 3.22.3 SRU (LP:

  The errors are much less common for the e-d-s API key so upstream does
  not intend to change that key. The e-d-s key is new, only existing in
  Ubuntu 16.10 and above. (It's not even used in the Ubuntu 16.04 GNOME3
  Staging PPA since --disable-google-auth is used there to not add a new

  Several defects in network-manager-applet can lead to crashes under
  certain circumstance as tracked in errors.ubuntu.com, upstream stable
  bug fix release 1.2.4 should fix a big portion of the bugs while no
  feature is being added or changed.

  [Test Case]

  After upgrading to 1.2.2, crash cases should be lesser than previous,
  and no functional regression should be observed.

  [Regression Potential]

  Potential of causing regression is minimal as upstream fixes aren't
  significant in this small package during the stable branch

Title:
  [SRU] network-manager-applet 1.2.4 in Xenial

Status in network-manager-applet package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  Several defects in network-manager-applet can lead to crashes under
  certain circumstance as tracked in errors.ubuntu.com, upstream stable
  bug fix release 1.2.4 should fix a big portion of the bugs while no
  feature is being added or changed.

  [Test Case]

  After upgrading to 1.2.2, crash cases should be lesser than previous,
  and no functional regression should be observed.

  [Regression Potential]

  Potential of causing regression is minimal as upstream fixes aren't
  significant in this small package during the stable branch
  maintenance.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs

2016-12-16 Thread Florian W.
Flash not working is less of a show stopper than half of the internet
not working because of trust issues. (Who needs flash anyway? I use it
maybe once a month, but now I can't do my christmas shopping in Chromium
because amazon doesn't work no matter what.) So if you can't get flash
to work, I'd recommend just pushing the new chromium anyway. :-)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1590844] Re: Bluetooth headset not working with Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition

2016-12-16 Thread Alexandre Payet
@Seth,
I don't know at all. I also tied to modify some pulseaudio conf without success.
1. It's working on android --> so the problem come from ubuntu ?
2. Bluez / Bluetooth seems to have same behaviour than the other ubuntu phone
(nexus 4 , ...)
3. Pulseaudio / audio is working well with the other sounds (music player, ...)
even with Bluetooth
4. Only a call sound with bluetooth is noising. Problem seems to be sound's
configuration between telephony service / bluez / pulseaudio

If we don't know the service(s) that impact this bug, could it be
possible to have a discussion between people working on theses different
services in order to understand the link between
telephony/bluez/pulseaudio ?

These are only assumptions.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1649045] Re: Merge with network-manager-applet 1.4.2-1

2016-12-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package network-manager-applet -
1.4.2-1ubuntu1

---
network-manager-applet (1.4.2-1ubuntu1) zesty; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian (LP: #1649045). Remaining changes:
- lp341684_device_sensitive_disconnect_notify.patch:
  show correct notification messages for disconnect events, to be in
  line with the other *connect*text patches.
- lp460144_correctly_update_notification.patch: cleaner notification
  messages, and allow for messages to be updated instead of cleared.
- applet-wifi-menu-before-vpn.patch:
  show Create New and Connect to Hidden wifi menu items with the other
  Wifi items, rather than separated by the VPN menus.
- Always-center-dialogs-on-the-screen.patch:
  position dialogs to the center of the screen.
- Allow-to-create-and-connect-to-Ad-Hoc-RSN-networks.patch:
  Enable Ad-Hoc using WPA RSN
- reorder-indicator-items.patch:
  Make sure devices show before networking toggles
- Have-the-appindicator-enabled-by-default.patch:
  Enable the indicator by default
- On-Ubuntu-we-use-premade-icons-for-the-indicator-VPN.patch:
  use '-secure'-suffixed icons when connected to the VPN, since we can't
  composit icons on the fly.
- Make-sure-the-behavior-for-policykit-restricted-acti.patch,
  Implement-support-for-hiding-rather-than-desensitizi.patch:
  provide a method to desensitize or hide menu items which are useless
  given the current policykit policy level of the user.
- debian/rules: ship extra icons, use --with-indicators, export
  translations for Launchpad
- debian/control: Build-Depend on dh-translations, libappindicator3-dev,
  and libdbusmenu-gtk3-dev
  * Dropped changes:
- debian/control: Breaks gnome-bluetooth << 3.0, not needed since 12.04 LTS
- lower_dbusmenu_requirement.patch: No longer needed
- applet-fix-handling-of-802.1x-secrets-for-ethernet-c.patch:
  Applied in new release

network-manager-applet (1.4.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release.
  * Drop override for dh_auto_test. We don't explicitly need to dump the log
files as dh_auto_test runs with VERBOSE=1 by default.

network-manager-applet (1.4.0-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Replace Depends: dbus-x11 with Depends: default-dbus-session-bus |
dbus-session-bus so that either dbus-user-session or dbus-x11 can be used.
(Closes: #836037)

network-manager-applet (1.4.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release.
  * Rebase patches.
  * Bump network-manager related (build-)dependencies to >= 1.4.
  * Enable team and team-port configuration support. Requires Jansson for
handling JSON data.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs

2016-12-16 Thread Stéphane Berthelot
Chromium 55.0.2883.75-0ubuntu0.16.10.1327 fixes this bug but has other video
related problems (on Twitch if you don't enable Flash explicitly like #94 or
other Flash websites even if you enable it maybe fixed on #100 but not released
yet I assume)
Why not release a Chromium 53 with CT timebomb disabled (like Debian) right now
and take time to fix the Chromium 55 build ?
It's really a showstopper bug like @rlrevell-k said for Ubuntu yakkety users, I
thought it would have been fixed (even intermediately) much sooner.

  Hi,

  Marmuta wrote a patch for this issue, that I applied to the gtk+3.0
  package shipping currently in the development version of Ubuntu zesty.
  You will find the corresponding debdiff attached to this bug thread.

  Marmuta performed tests with org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-
  factor = 2 , where few issues are left for Onboard on hidpi screens,
  that are not related to gtk, but rather to unity-greeter or gnome-
  screensaver. He did not notice any issue with scaling-factor = 1.

  Can a sponsor please review the debdiff?

  Thanks in advance.

  Original description:

  See attached screen shot. Blue is a GtkPlug, black is a GtkSocket.
  Source code below.

  What I expect to happen is that the GtkPlug has the same size as the
GtkSocket.
  What actually happens is that GtkPlug only covers a quarter of the area of
the GtkSocket.

  Impact: Onboard on HiDPI displays is near unusable at login and lock
  screen, aka unity-greeter and gnome-screensaver. Original bug report
  here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1562734.

  Steps to reproduce:
  - build plug and socket samples from below
  - set display scaling factor to 2
    System Settings -> Display -> Scale for menu and title bars = 2
  - run  ./socket $(head -1 <(./plug))
  -> blue GtkPlug is too small, it should cover all the black

  - resize the window
  -> at smaller sizes the scaling suddenly corrects itself, at larger ones it's
wrong again

Aron, please add the sleep patch to your master n-m branch for zesty and

I consider the sleep issue just as important as the 1.2.4 update.
Therefore, I would rather not sponsor this update without that patch.
