I understand and agree gnome-shell's animations are poor in places. Sub-
optimal performance of the shell in general makes them sometimes miss
frames and stutter. Plus the chosen easing curves are also questionable
(bug 1713021).
But these are all fixable bugs. I would be disappointed if we

We migrated all the computers to Lubuntu (Ubuntu + LXDE) 16.04 64 bit.
The problem is solved for us.
We had the problem with Lubuntu 14.04 32 & 64 bit with kernel enablement stack.

I made new tests today and noticed that while keeping the gnome
extensions off, gnome-shell stabilizes completely. I think the crash was

Gnome session crash after monitor switch-off/input change.
Does anyone know if this happens to be fixed in 17.10? I have little
hope that the fix is ever going to make into 17.04...

I converted the PNG to a jpeg, resized them all to 4K, reduced the
quality slightly. The size is now 12M. I hope it's acceptable - if not,
the originals are here for someone else to try to work on. 116M would
increased the size of the ISO by 100M - it's that much bigger than
zesty's wallpapers -

While trying to use the php installation delivered by
https://launchpad.net/%7Eondrej/+archive/ubuntu/php, we found out, that
the order within apt-get install change the solved packages.
Which means if we do:
apt-get install php-apcu php7.1-cli => installs newest php and 7.1
