I think there is something wrong with gdm3/wayland/NVIDIA proprietary driver.
If I config gdm3 as default display manager, when rebooted, I have a black

I think I'm experiencing the same problem. I installed Ubuntu 18.04
beta last Tuesday. When I power on my computer, the screen blinks 50-53
times over the span of 2-1/2 minutes (this is perfectly reproducible)

Ubuntu 18.04 fails to suspend if a window is open - it merely goes to
the lock screen with a message that 1 process could not be stopped.
[Side note - this behaviour disregards that I have the lock screen
disabled in Privacy settings.]

patch after applying the Arch patch, to remove a naming conflict

I had the same problem and I have done the following...
>From the terminal sudo apt-get remove gstreamer1.0-vaapi
I have done a test and yes, the problem has been fixed now I can see the
video correctly.
So the problem is gstreamer1.0-vaapi
