Thanks. It appears you now have the Nvidia kernel driver installed OK,
but the Nvidia X driver isn't being used at all.
Please run:
dpkg -l > dpkgl.txt
and send us the resulting dpkgl.txt.
Please also see if you can find one of these files:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/etc/xorg.conf
and if so then
I've tried many times to apply one of the available Nvidia drivers (390,
396) but still it displays that "No proprietary drivers are in use".
