[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2051444] [NEW] Ubuntu Desktop (Wayland) freeze on hybrid sytem Intel GPU + NVIDIA GPU, when using XWayland application

2024-01-27 Thread Zingam
Public bug reported:

I am experiencing freezes since relatively recently (maybe since driver or LTS
update), when I am using Visual Studio Code. For example it just froze while I
was typing in VSCode.
This happens several times a week.

It may be related to this bug about slow downs when using Firefox,
VSCode, etc.: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2050866

I too am having this issue, with the exception that adsys-gpolist DOES
return a list of GPOs, where adsysctl -m -vvv -t0 the embedded script
fails to return a list of GPOs, and they're both using the same

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1926799] Re: Cursor is not rendered in the correct location when at maximum desktop zoom

   Status: New => Fix Released

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop
Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu.

Title:
Cursor is not rendered in the correct location when at maximum desktop
  zoom

Status in GNOME Shell:
  Fix Released
Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Affected version
  LSB Version:
core-11.1.0ubuntu2-noarch:printing-11.1.0ubuntu2-noarch:security-11.1.0ubuntu2-noarch

  Gnome Version: 3.38.4
  Occurs in: Xorg and Wayland

  Bug summary

  1. zoom focus shifts - lets assume a window in the center of the
screen and i am at 3x zoom and i try to point my mouse at something
and try to click that. 90% of the time zoom focus shifts away from the
mouse location to mostly top left corner of the screen.

  2. mouse pointing away from the object - Similarly when i reach above
some zoom limit sets say 4x and now lets say i am in a browser trying
to click a link i point at the link cursor changes to hand and when i
try to click i couldnt. So i try to zoom out and i fid that the
pointer was not exactly placed on the link. To sum up when zoomed in
it seems like i am pointing at a link while the cursor is actually
  placed away from the link

  3. Compressing text - after reaching certain high zoom level as said
4x or 5x the content on the screen becomes a bit compressed on the
sides texts and images and everything on screen becomes elongated

  Steps to reproduce

  1. Turn on zoom from settings -> Accessibility
  2. Zoom in above 3.x
  3. Try clicking on some object inside a window
  4. Choose Follow mouse cursor or on screen part droopdown choose full screen.
  5. My current settings are Screen part: Full Screen, Magnifier cursor pushes
content arround. However these issues persist with all the other options under
magnifier position. Such as Follow mouse cursor or magnifier cursor pushes
content arround or any such option provided.
  Screenshot_from_2021-05-03_14-37-09

  What happened

  1. Zoom focus shifts away from the cursor mostly towards top left of the
window or the desktop.
2.While zoomed in cursor seems to be placed above a link or an object but is
actually placed awway either to the left or right of the object. Original
position of the cursor reveals when zoomed out.
3.Content on screen seems to be compressed from the sides as text and other
objects appear elongated.

I have also posted the same issue on the GNOME Community:
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/4228

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1806385] Re: [upstream] Creating a new slide by double click not working correctly

2024-01-27 Thread Rüdiger Kupper
As to the position where the new slide ist created (if you manage to
double-click on the empty space at the bottom), it appears to be below
the currently selected slide. This does not happen, if the slides pane
is not yet filled and has enough free space at the bottom: then new
slides are always created at the bottom.

You can create new slides in impress by double clicking on the empty
part of the slides pane (below the existing slide). However, this
works only as expected while the slides pane actually has empty space
  at the bottom.

As soon as I have created a few slides, the slides pane is completely
  filled, and two things happen:

  (1) Improvement: It is very hard to double click on the thin white
space at the bottom of the filled slides pane. This could be improved
by always letting a few pixels at the bottom to click on.

  (2) Bug: You can actually manage to double click there and this
creates a new slide. However, this new slide is not filed at the end
of slides (as it should) but appears at a strange location somewhere
in the middle of slides. This is definitely wrong.

  Workaround:

Tap Esc once to see text mode.
Tap Esc a second time to get the Plymouth graphical screen.

I only figured that out when I had been waiting too long for the disk
  decryption prompt.
