Title:
Ubuntu Wayland does not support 21:9 monitor

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
My second monitor attached to HDMI of my Lenovo V15 is DELL S3422DWG and has
aspect 21:9 with resolution 3440x1440, with supported resfresh at 100Hz.
I could not set native resolution on my second HDMI DELL S3422DWG in any way.
I tried cvt, modeset, passing boot parameters to grub, porting EDID from
Windows 10 to custom EDID with grub parameters.

Every one move ended up with 4k resolution 3840x2160(16:9).

And I saw a lot of similar reports on unresolved 21:9 issue on reddit,
stackoverflow etc.
  Kind regards.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2055842] [NEW] pulseaudio: request backporting of upstream patch

2024-03-03 Thread mokabar
Public bug reported:

i've been investigating bugs of the gstreamer backend of qt
(QTBUG-122424, QTBUG-122423). it seems that we run into a pulseaudio bug
that has been fixed in pulseaudio-17.

what would it take to backport the corresponding fix?
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/merge_requests/745
(i've verified that a local build of pulseaudio with that patch fixes
the issue).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2054319] Re: System installed from jammy point release iso cannot upgrade to noble

2024-03-03 Thread Martin Malec
Having the same issue as in #7 (id: ‘polkitd’: no such user, chown:
invalid group: ‘root:polkitd’). Managed to apply workaround to move with
the test upgrade from this stuck place by creating polkitd system group
using `groupadd -r polkitd`.

We have different crashes being encountered. In our auto-upgrade-

didn't experience this. @hyask did experience the gnome-shell crash

When running an upgrade from jammy to noble in a virsh vm, about
halfway through the upgrade process my gui dies. I then ran the
upgrade from a console, to which it revealed that just the gui dies -
the upgrade process, for me, continues and then laterally fails.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2051838] Re: /usr/libexec/gdm-wayland-session: Error: WaylandMessage::Write() too many files to send

2024-03-03 Thread Steve
The Firefox issue can be found at:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1882449

The issue has been closed and supposedly fixed. The target milestone has
been set to 125, which I assume means that it should be included in the
Firefox 125 release planned for 16 April 2024. In the meantime, the
recommended workaround is to run Firefox with
`MOZ_DISABLE_WAYLAND_PROXY=1`.

I noticed the problem when I started to run out of disk because
/var/log/syslog was consuming more than 400GiB. I noticed that rsyslogd starts
to consume a lot of CPU trying to process such volume of messages.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2052457] Re: libreoffice latest version not detecting my java installation

2024-03-03 Thread jorritlinnert
I've dug a little deeper into the possible reason why the JRE cannot be found:
All installed JRE's are installed under a subdirectory of the /usr directory.
When I try to select the JRE to use, I notice that this Snap does not have any
permission to access the /usr directory.
Am I missing some alternative path?

Note: I have installed the stable version, rather than the strictly
"latest" version because I don't trust release candidates or Beta's with
my files.
