Title:
[amdgpu] Firefox window is visually corrupted after upgrading to
  Ubuntu 23.04

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
After upgrading from Ubuntu 22.10 to Ubuntu 23.04, every time I open
firefox the windows is heavily visually corrupted. It seems to work
fine under the corruption, but it is completely unusuable.

The tar version of Firefox works fine. In the attached screenshot you
can see the snap version of Firefox (corrupted) and the tar version of
  Firefox (working fine).

I tried uninstalling (with --purge) and reinstalling and refreshing
  firefox to no avail.

All other applications, including 3D games, are working fine. I am
using an AMD RX5500 with default mesa drivers.

Title:
[snap] chromium snap does not allow to read symlinks to
  /usr/share/javascript

Status in Mozilla Firefox:
  Confirmed
Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:

  1) Install chromium snap
  snap install chromium
  2) Install openjdk-21 documentation
  sudo apt install openjdk-21-doc
  3) Browse API documentation
  chromium /usr/share/doc/openjdk-21-doc/api/index.html

The search bar is inactive and dev console contains:
jquery-3.6.1.min.js:1 Failed to load resource: net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

  $ls -l
/usr/share/doc/openjdk-21-jre-headless/api/script-dir/jquery-3.6.1.min.js
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 43 Mar 17 13:31
/usr/share/doc/openjdk-21-jre-headless/api/script-dir/jquery-3.6.1.min.js ->
../../../../javascript/jquery/jquery.min.js

  cat /usr/share/doc/openjdk-21-jre-headless/api/script-dir/jquery-3.6.1.min.js
  prints the file contents

Downloaded version of chrome opens documentation with active search bar and
no javascript errors
  /tmp/chrome/chrome /usr/share/doc/openjdk-21-doc/api/index.html

  Expected results:

Chromium snap should be able to follow symlink into
/usr/share/javascript and correctly load OpenJDK API documentation.

Note: this probably should be a specific exclusion for Debian-based
  systems.

Title:
Outlook.com does not authenticate anymore with evolution-ews or gnome
  online accounts

Status in evolution-ews package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in gnome-online-accounts package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 22.04.4
  evolution-ews 3.44.0-1
  gnome-online-accounts 3.44.0-1ubuntu1

Earlier I could add outlook.com to gnome calendar with exchange in Gnome
online accounts and evolution-ews installed, now Microsoft has changed
something and it does not authenticate anymore..

  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/outlook-and-other-apps-are-
  unable-to-connect-to-outlook-com-when-using-basic-
  authentication-f4202ebf-89c6-4a8a-bec3-3d60cf7deaef

It's not very long to the release date for 24.04 LTS, and I hope this
  is fixed before that..

In evolution it does ask for outlook.com password and I use the right
password, nothing happens, other than it just asking for password
again.. edit: I got a error message now (see screenshot in comment #1)

The issue is still present, I installed the latest beta which is 123.0.6312.28.
It still has the same error present about no such file or directory for
amdgpu.ids. In a normal terminal the file is present

A temporary workaround is to disable hardware acceleration in the settings for
the browser. This at least allows me to use Chromium for now.

Grahpical bugs caused by unable to access libdrm

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
The chromium snap package has a bunch of graphical glitches that makes
the program unusable. This appears to be caused by the snap package
being unable to access the libdrm directory. Below is the output I get
when launching the program. I have confirmed I have libdrm installed
and the amdgpu.ids file is present on my system. Using a normal
version of Chromium (not a snap) works as expected so I believe there
is an issue with the snap package.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2056642] [NEW] drop down menu appears on another workspace

2024-03-09 Thread Valentin Stoykov
Public bug reported:

I am using Selenium webdriver to open a drop down menu in Firefox.

When I manually open the drop down menu the bug does not appear. Because
the drop down menu is being closed when I switch between workspaces.

But when I switch to another workspace when the drop down menu is opened
by Selenium webdriver it is appearing on the other workspace and I can
interact with it.

Screenshot is attached.

I have the same gnome crashes on Ubuntu-desktop 24.04 development branch

Gnome shell suddenly crashes just working & browsing around a bit,
several times a day

leading towards the grey screen of death 'oops something went wrong' and
needs a logout

Great, thank you for clarifying!

Title:
LibreOffice has started displaying a donation nag

Status in LibreOffice:
  Fix Released
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I just opened up a spreadsheet (technically a CSV file, but who's
counting), to discover LibreOffice displaying an eye-catching blue
"Your donations support our worldwide community." banner just below
the toolbars and about a toolbar and a half tall.

This irritating nag is apparently supposed to display every 90 to 180
days with no in-application means to disable it permanently, and
there's apparently also a "Help us make LibreOffice even better!"
  banner that can appear too.

  According to this blog post...

  https://www.remembertheusers.com/2019/11/0580-libreoffice-nag-
  notices.html

...it is not responsive to configuration overrides within the user
profile and the only apparent solution that doesn't require patching
the source and rebuilding is to create a file containing the following
  markup in `$BASEDIR/share/registry`
(`/usr/lib/libreoffice/share/registry` as installed by the Ubuntu
  package):

  http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema;
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance;
xmlns:oor="http://openoffice.org/2001/registry;>

http://openoffice.org/2004/installation; oor:name="Setup"
oor:package="org.openoffice">

  0

  0

Regardless of how it's achieved, I think it's tasteless, irritating,
and probably doesn't give a very good image to any office customers
Ubuntu may have downstream for random employees to be receiving nag
banners like that in IT-installed software.

Please consider patching it out or otherwise ensuring it never
triggers in distro-provided builds of LibreOffice.
