WS Discovery is irrelevant for storage systems that don't even have WS capabilities at all. Please take note that the relevant component gvfsd- smb-browse already clearly has the capability to work here but _requires_ a kill/restart of the component after a fresh reboot to fix. This could easily be solved with adjusting the internal code to instead of fail as it does, just re-init itself in similar logical vein (but better than killing it). So yet again to say explicitly WS DISCOVERY AND RELATED WS ASPECTS ARE NOT THE SOLUTION HERE. How many times do I need to say that here and elsewhere before it gets noticed and read? I am glad that you chimed in Sebastien Bacher, as this is now approaching 5 years outstanding as an issue, despite there being a clearly simple solution (within the code). And I do hear you on the always limited resources. And when I switch to LightDM, the monitor can turn off but the lock screen shortcut won't work and I don't like LightDM very much. Sometimes (I'd say 20% of the time) either a manual or automatic
suspend fails in these ways:
* power button remains lit (on succesful suspend it flashes)
* Fans may remain spinning and (indirectly observed) battery drains quite fast
* Screen black, impossible to wake, only to shut down by long power button
press
Bug occurs BOTH on Wayland and Xorg Gnome, so not sure which package
is at fault.
In addition, bug submission documentation is not very good, I'm filing this
bug after 30 minutes of bug documentation and I'm still confident this is filed
incorrectly.

Public bug reported: With the latest proposed versions of software-properties-gtk, software- properties-common, and python3-software-properties (0.99.44), it is possible to break the default ubuntu.sources list. How to replicate 1. Open software-properties-gtk 2. Uncheck all of the repository suites (main, universe, multiverse, etc.) 3. Cat the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources file. It should be mostly empty. 4. Re-check all of the repository suites again. 5. Cat the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources file again. It will still be mostly empty with no repository configuration present. The ubuntu.sources file remains in a broken state even though software-properties-gtk shows the suites as checked. We can workaround this issue by using the 'Revert' button in software- properties-gtk.
