I'm using an Optimus laptop (Asus N43SL)
nvidia-prime is installed, so my nvidia dedicated graphics card (GT 540m) is
in use.

Once in a while, my screen will freeze, only when I use my touchpad.
This does not happen with my USB mouse.
This does not happen either when I uninstall nvidia-prime and use my intel
integrated graphics (HD3000).

I can temporarily solve the issue by doing a VT switch.

In the attached Xorg.0.log, you can see synaptics: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad:
touchpad found each time I did a VT switch and regained control.

Public bug reported:

I have Avita NS14A2 laptop where i dual boot windows 10 and Ubuntu
20.04. In past few days might be after installing updates I am facing
issue where my screen dont display at all when i first boot it and after
multiple force shut down and then boot in it work, even on doing Suspend
and then opening it, screen didnt not display for about 5-6 minutes, and
then shows login screen.

On checking logs software i got these line on those time stamp when display
doesnt shows

this is the line:

(Hardware) i915 :00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* failed to enable link
training

this line continues for about 30-40 times on average during time when screen
doesnt display anything on turing on. So I think there is some issue with it.

As I primarily use Ubuntu 20.04 so didnt check it with windows 10

but on doing cold boot it didnt even shows the boot menu where i can choose
between Ubuntu 20.04 and Windows 10.

But once screen starts displaying i dont see that error in logs software
anymore and screen doesnt freezes or hangs. It only happen when i either
open after suspend or do cold boot.

Please consider this issue on urgent basis, as it takes a lot of time and
efforts to make screen display something. :(

And please let me know whether I should do fresh installation of ubuntu 20.04
again.

Sorry for any grammatical mistakes. :)

Thank you,
