I use Gnome Shell and modified version of Ambiance theme, but i can
confirm that bug also happens in Unity with standard theme.
This bug is probably related to Nautilus, anyway i've made a short
screencast so you can better understand the problem:

glib come from gnome3-team ppa.
it seems an eog bug compiled with glib 2.31 (see bug 880227 on launchpad
), downgrading to glib 2.30 revolve the bug.

for me the problem is solved, i've downgraded all the glib staff and now
i live happily :)
why are you using the ppa and no the official from 11.10?
gnome3-team ppa was for gnome-shell-extensions-* and gnome-documents,
but now i switched to WebUpd8 ppa that doesn't have glib staff

To reproduce the bug you have to open two files in two different way. I
mean, first open a file from gnome-terminal, then open another file with
nautilus, and then close the latest opened file (If you close the first
file, gedit doesn't crash).

I think that this issue can continue here, someone have to just add
adium-theme-ubuntu (or something related to webkit, like suggested by
developer) in the Affects section.

Oh that is sad information indeed, but thank you!
Unfortunately none of the other versions can be found in the Ubuntu
repositories, which means no updates through the regular channel and no
distribution specific patches.
And having to submit your personal extensions for review is just not OK!
It's not like setting MOZ_REQUIRE_SIGNING to false would allow running
unsigned extensions outright. There is also about:config setting
xpinstall.signatures.required, that is true by default and needs to be
set false by the user before unsigned extensions can be installed.
